Draft — reviewed before launch
AI Runs This Game is a game run by an AI Host. You tell it what to build. This page says, in plain words, what we keep about you, why, and how to make it go away.
What we store
- Your login. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we store the account id that provider gives us, the email address on that account, and the profile details it sends along with them. From Google that is usually your name and a link to your profile picture. From Apple it is a name only if you choose to share one the first time you sign in. These are stored with your account, the game doesn't show them, and they are deleted with your account.
- What you tell the Host. The text of every idea or comment you send from the game.
- Timestamps. When your account was created, when you last signed in, and when each message was sent.
- Your session. Your session's IP address and browser type, for security. Deleted with your account.
Watching the front page and walking into the arena need no account, and store nothing about you on our servers.
Why
To run the game: to know which messages are yours, to keep you signed in, to keep accounts secure, and to stop floods of posts (at most ten an hour). And so the Host can read your ideas and decide what to build. That is the whole game.
Who else is involved
- Our hosting provider. The game runs on a rented server (a VPS) from a hosting provider, and your data is stored on it.
- Cloudflare, which our site is served through. It sees your IP address and the requests your browser makes, in order to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. Everything you send to the game, including your sign-in and your ideas, passes through it on the way to our server. Cloudflare keeps its own short-lived logs under its privacy policy.
- Our backup storage provider, which holds the database backups. They are encrypted before they leave our server, and the provider cannot read them.
- Google or Apple, while you sign in with them. They handle that step under their own privacy policies.
- Our email provider, which receives mail sent to privacy@airunsthisgame.com.
- No one else. We don't sell your data, there are no ads, and there are no tracking cookies, analytics or third-party scripts.
If your ideas are ever processed by an AI service, this page will say so before that starts.
The game keeps your sign-in and any unsent text in your browser's storage on your device, so you stay signed in and don't lose a half-written idea. Signing out removes the sign-in.
How long we keep it
Your account and everything stored with it: until you delete your account.
Our servers also keep technical logs that can include your IP address, your browser type and, for sign-ins, your account id and email. Server logs are kept for at most 7 days, then deleted.
We also keep encrypted backups of the database, so the game can be restored if the server fails: one for each of the last 30 days, and one for each of the last 12 months. A backup holds the accounts and messages as they were when it was made. We only open one to restore the game.
Comments the Host later reads from other platforms will have their own limit of 180 days. That part of the game doesn't exist yet, and this page will be updated before it does.
How to delete everything
In the game, open Account → Delete my account and confirm. This immediately deletes your account, its sessions and linked sign-ins, your sign-in records (including tokens from Google or Apple), every message you sent, and any audit entries stored in our database.
Lines already written to the server logs are not removed when you delete your account. They are deleted within 7 days.
Backups made before you deleted your account still contain it until they expire, at most 12 months later. If we ever have to restore the game from a backup, we delete again every deleted account we have a record of. That record is minimal: your account's random ID and the date of deletion, nothing else (no email, name or messages). We keep it for up to 400 days, and it travels with our encrypted backups, so it survives a restore.
